Retail crime and violence are the focus of a private forum being hosted Thursday by the Vancouver Police Department.
The VPD is bringing together experts and stakeholders to look for solutions to problems that have been plaguing businesses in the city.
Loss and risk management experts from London Drugs and the Retail Council of Canada will be joined by the Identity Theft and Anti-Fencing Unit.
Police say reported shoplifting incidents, especially in Vancouver’s downtown core, were up in 2024 from the previous year.
“This forum will provide an important platform to discuss proactive measures and strengthen the partnership between police and the retail community,” said Insp. Sarah Burnham.
The forum is closed to the public.
