A Vancouver man is now facing multiple charges after allegedly hitting an RCMP officer with their car during a traffic stop in Delta last year.

The incident happened on Feb. 17, 2024, when a BC Highway Patrol officer was trying to pull someone over near Highway 91 and 72nd Avenue.

The driver allegedly fled the scene, and the officer was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Just days later, the RCMP identified the driver of the vehicle as a 57-year-old Vancouver man, Tobin Haas. According to police, at the time of the incident, Haas was already wanted on an outstanding province-wide warrant for breaking and entering.

In an update on the case Monday, the BC Highway Patrol says the BC Prosecution Service has laid multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, and driving without a licence.

According to police, Hass is expected back in court on April 1.

The police officer is still recovering from their injuries, Mounties add.
