Emergency services were called to the area of 30th Avenue and 144th Street just after 10:30 a.m. Friday.

“An ambulance with primary care paramedics, an ambulance with advanced care paramedics, and a paramedic supervisor responded to the scene,” BC Emergency Health Services paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites said.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient who was transported to hospital in critical condition.”

SPS Sgt. Tige Pollock says the cause of the collision is still under investigation.

“…it appears at this stage that it was caused by a medical emergency, and impairment is not believed to be a factor,” said Pollock.

Police said 144th Street would be closed between 30th and 32nd avenues following the crash as the investigation was conducted. As of 3 p.m., it was still closed but it isn’t clear if the street has since reopened. 1130 NewsRadio has reached out to the SPS for more information.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dash cam footage is asked to call the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 and refer to file number 25-107788 (SP).
