Woman dead after vehicle crashes into lamp post on Golden Ears Way

A woman has died after her vehicle lost control and crashed into a lamp post on a stretch of road connecting Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, the BC RCMP says.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. Saturday, police received a report of a single-vehicle crash at the foot of the Golden Ears Way Bridge on the overpass at Lougheed Highway.

“According to a witness, a red Toyota RAV4 travelling northbound at the location lost control and crashed into a light standard,” Mounties said.

“A lone adult female occupant of the vehicle sustained significant injuries. Despite life-saving efforts by the witness and emergency personnel, the woman died at the scene.”

Police believe speed was a contributing factor.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call the Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-467-7633.
