Nanaimo RCMP start homicide investigation in case of woman found dead

The Nanaimo RCMP announced it has launched a homicide investigation following the disappearance and death of a 65-year-old woman.

On Nov. 14, Sherry Shelley’s body was discovered on the same day she was reported missing.

Her remains were found near a burning vehicle in a wooded area off Highway 19, not far from Westwood Lake.

Police did not reveal any information on a suspect nor on the cause of death yet.

Investigators now seek surveillance or dashcam footage capturing Shelley’s white Volkswagen Tiguan SUV between 11:00 p.m. on Nov. 13 and 3:00 a.m. on Nov. 14.

RCMP urge anyone with relevant footage to contact police.
