Low gas prices likely to continue dropping in Vancouver: analysts

Gas prices in the Lower Mainland are still trending downward Monday morning, and experts say the trend is not about to stop.

Analysts at GasBuddy.com say the average retail price of gas in Vancouver has fallen by 1.4 cents per litre in the past week to around 140.48 cents per litre Sunday.

Month over month, the price has dropped 13.3 cents per litre — and 26.2 cents per litre year over year.

Gasbuddy says B.C. is no different than the national average, which is also falling.

“For the third straight week, the national average price of gasoline in Canada has fallen, putting it on the cusp of dipping below 125 cents per litre for the first time since April 2021,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

De Haan says most refineries are back in working order, fuel production is rising, and oil prices are easing.

“As a result, Canadians could see gas prices continue to edge lower as we move toward the end of 2025.”

The company’s report says the average price in Abbotsford is down to 127.25 cents per litre.

Drivers can find prices as low as $1.36 per litre in Vancouver as of 7 a.m. Monday.
