Man charged after shooting at Abbotsford business

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says a man has been charged in connection with a shooting at a business this week.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to a truck and trailer repair business on King Road near Clearbrook Road after reports of shots fired.

A suspect vehicle was located shortly afterwards, and the driver was arrested.

On Friday, AbbyPD said 22-year-old Gursewak Singh was formally charged in relation to this week’s incident.

Police have released Singh’s photo, saying it is “necessary in the public interest to assist with the investigation.”

“This image will help provide accurate information and may prompt additional witnesses, victims, or associates to come forward with relevant information surrounding Mr.Singh’s activities,” they said.

Singh remains in custody. His next bail hearing is scheduled for Dec. 23.

No injuries were reported.

This was the second time the business has been targeted by gunfire in recent weeks. AbbyPD has not released any information as to whether or not the two incidents are connected, but they are both believed to be extortion-related.

The owner of the business, who wishes to remain anonymous, says he has been living in a state of distress since Nov. 12, the date of the first shooting.
