A section of the Stanley Park Seawall in Vancouver reopened Monday after rockslides and mud brought by strong weather forced it to close earlier this month.
The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation announced the closure of the waterfront area between Third Beach and Prospect Point on Dec. 21, citing heavy rainfall.

That week, Environment and Climate Change Canada also issued warnings for winds over areas covering the Burrard Inlet.
In a later post to social media, the board said the closure would continue until at least Dec. 27. On that date, it announced the extension of the closure as “freezing and thawing conditions” were expected to continue over the weekend.
“Evaluation of slope stability will be conducted by Park Board operations on Monday.”
In an update Monday, the board said the Seawall had reopened as of 1 p.m., following site assessments.
The Park Board says the path may still be slippery in some areas.
