Man dead after early-morning crash in Burnaby’s Lougheed neighbourhood Monday

The Burnaby RCMP says that a man died in a two-vehicle crash on Austin Road near Gatineau Place on Monday, shortly after 5:20 a.m.

Police say that the deceased was one of the drivers of the two vehicles and died despite life-saving measures taken by first responders.

Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has taken conduct of the investigation.

The driver of the second vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Roads in the area are closed off while police investigate, and drivers are asked to find alternative routes.

Police are now seeking dashcam footage and witnesses after the fatal collision.

“If you witnessed the collision and have not spoken to police, or if you have dashcam video in the area, please contact our investigators,” said Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Laura Hirst.
