A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Laity Street on Monday.
Ridge Meadows RCMP and the BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) responded to the incident at around 5:30 a.m.

A BCEHS spokesperson told CityNews that two ambulances arrived at the scene with paramedics providing emergency medical care to the pedestrian, who was then transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Police say the woman died of her injuries in the hospital.
Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit, with assistance from the Investigative Support Team and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, were on the scene for several hours investigating the incident.



Eastbound lanes on Lougheed Highway between Laity Street and 216th Street were closed to traffic while officers worked at the scene, before being reopened late in the morning.
According to police, investigators are speaking to the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash.
