The group alleged that a stranger had slashed their friend’s shoulder with a knife.

Police say a brief chase ensued, and the officer caught and arrested a suspect after firing a taser at her.

A 29-year-old woman has since been charged with one count each of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

The victim, a 31-year-old man, is reportedly recovering after being treated in hospital.

Records show a woman with the same name as the suspect is currently in custody and expected to return to court Tuesday and on Jan. 27.

The VPD says the suspect was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for breaching her parole and a B.C.-wide warrant for failing to comply with a probation order at the time of her arrest.
