The victim, identified as 48-year-old Christopher Jumal Sanderon, was first transported to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
The VPD’s Homicide Section has taken over the investigation, but says no arrests have been made.

Lanes of Commercial Drive were closed overnight as investigators worked, but have since reopened.
Images from the scene show that police barricaded an area of the sidewalk outside a business on the west side of the street. Items of clothing and a tarp were left strewn across the sidewalk behind the barrier.
