Murder charge laid in fatal Commercial Drive stabbing

A murder charge has been laid against a 22-year-old man after a fatal stabbing last week in east Vancouver.

At about 8:40 p.m. on Jan. 20, Christopher Jumal Sanderson, 48, was taken to hospital after being stabbed on Commercial Drive near East 10th Avenue. He later died and police began a hunt for a murder suspect.
On Saturday, VPD officers searched a home at Commercial and East 13th Avenue and made an arrest.
Quoc The Cathedral Dang has since been charged with one count of second-degree murder. Dang remains in custody
This was the first homicide of 2026 in Vancouver.
