It has been over four decades since 21-year-old Kim Stolberg was found stabbed to death, and the Richmond RCMP is renewing its appeal for information that could help identify whoever is responsible.
On Dec. 4, 1985, around 8 p.m., Stolberg was on the phone with her sister at her family’s office in Richmond, located on River Road between Capstan Way and Cambie Road.
While she was on the call, she told her sister that somebody she didn’t recognize had entered the office. She put the call on hold and never returned.
Around an hour later, Stolberg was found stabbed to death inside the building.
Staff Sgt. Gene Hsieh, Richmond RCMP Major Crime Commander, says someone out there must know something.
“Forty years have passed, but our commitment to finding answers for Kim and her family has not diminished,” Hsieh said.
“We have investigative tools today that we didn’t have in 1985. Even a small detail, remembered now, could be the key to finding whoever was responsible for Kim’s death.”
Mounties have released a short video outlining the case and detailing the investigation.
“The video aims to reach both current residents and anyone who may have moved away in the decades since the homicide but still holds information that could help move the case forward,” the Richmond RCMP said.
“Viewers are encouraged to share the video to help reach a broad audience.”
