The patrols are part of Surrey Police Service efforts to keep watch over neighbourhoods, homes and businesses that have been targeted with extortion attempts and shootings.
Surrey firefighters put out a small blaze near a fence on the property before it spread toward the house. Investigators confirmed the home, which was occupied, had gunshot damage but there were no reported injuries.
A suspicious vehicle was spotted driving nearby and three people jumped out and ran. Soon after, three suspects were arrested at 28th Avenue and 140th Street as they got into a ride-hailing vehicle.
Two vehicles were seized as part of the investigation, which Surrey police Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton said “is believed to be related to extortions.”

The following men have since been charged with one count each of discharging a firearm into a place: Harjot Singh, 21, Taranveer Singh, 19, and Dayajeet Singh Billing, 21.
All three are being held in custody until at least Friday. Because they have been confirmed to be foreign nationals, police have also been in touch with Canada Border Services Agency.
Asked about the facial injuries to two of the suspects, Houghton said they refused to respond to verbal commands from officers during what he called a “high-risk arrest.”
“With our officers not knowing if one or more of the men were still armed with firearms, our officers had to use physical force to gain compliance and safely take them into custody,” said Houghton. No officers were injured, he said.

Houghton said the investigation is still open and more charges might be coming.
He said investigators are releasing photos of the trio to prompt additional witnesses, victims or associates to come forward with information about where they were on or before Sunday morning.
A week ago, photos were also released of two other foreign nationals after an alleged extortion-related shooting incident in the area of 129th Street and 84th Avenue.
