The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says that after further investigation, the BC Prosecution Service approved upgrades to the charges.

“Despite charges having already been laid, IHIT investigators did not stop their investigation there,” said IHIT Sgt. Freda Fong.

The alleged murder occurred on Jan. 15 at a hotel on Marshall Road in Abbotsford.

Police were called to the area shortly after 11:30 a.m. and located the scene in a room within the hotel.

Details on the relationship between the woman and the suspect remain part of the investigation, according to IHIT.
