An entire block was evacuated after a vehicle crashed into the fence of a Vancouver daycare, located at West 33rd and Mackenzie, just after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Vancouver Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Keith Stewart tells 1130 NewsRadio the evacuation was necessary because a property gas line was damaged in the collision.

FortisBC corporate communications advisor Lauren Beckett says crews have stopped the flow of gas to the area.
“We expect repairs to be completed later this afternoon,” she said.
Police initially closed the roads in the area. Beckett says Mackenzie Street has since fully reopened.
“West 33rd will remain closed from intersection of Mackenzie one block west while crews are making repairs,” she said.

The driver was sent to hospital with a minor injury, Stewart says.
He says the vehicle stopped just feet away from the building.
No other injuries were reported.
