2 taken to hospital after SUV slams into excavator, Surrey police say

Two people have been taken to hospital after an SUV crashed into an excavator on 64th Avenue near 159th Street in Surrey Thursday morning.

Surrey Police Service (SPS) Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton says they received a call shortly before 10:20 a.m. after a report of the vehicle hitting the machinery.

Houghton says the driver and a construction worker were injured and taken to hospital. Neither is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

It appears that the driver may have experienced a medical issue, Houghton says.

The road was closed after the crash but has since reopened. Expect heavy delays in the area.
