Coquitlam high school safety protocols lifted Friday

Safety protocols have been lifted at Centennial Secondary.

This comes after an earlier lockdown that got downgraded to a hold-and-secure, according to School District 43.

“Coquitlam RCMP have lifted emergency protocols after attending affected sites and determining that there is no threat to the safety of students or staff,” the school district posted at around 1 p.m.

This comes after Mounties had earlier posted about the hold-and-secure.

“On February 6, 2026, #CoquitlamRCMP received and responded to further alleged threats towards schools in Coquitlam,” Mounties posted on social media.

“The affected schools immediately initiated their safety protocols. Our officers quickly attended and verified there is no threat to the safety of students and staff. These types of incidents aim at creating fear within our community, we can confirm to date no evidence has been identified to corroborate these alleged threats.”

School District 43 posted on its website, “Under the advisement of the RCMP, Centennial Secondary has been placed in a precautionary Hold and Secure. We emphasize this is a precautionary measure.  We expect to have a further update for everyone shortly.”

“Also related to a called in threat that has been received by multiple schools, GOAL and Vanier are in a Hold and Secure.”

Precautions have been lifted at Porter Street Elementary.

This is the third time in as many days the school has had to implement safety measures.

“We emphasize this is a precautionary measure,” SD 43 posted online.

“We expect to have a further update for everyone shortly.”

In addition, it says, Porter, Vanier, and GOAL are on hold-and-secure.

Details are slim at the moment. The school’s principal, Manjit Rai, says the school was locked down under advisement from the RCMP.

This comes after the school was placed on hold-and-secure after reported threats Wednesday and Thursday.

This is a developing story.
