Vancouver Chronicles -Legendary former voice of Vancouver Canucks Jim Robson dies at 91

Former Vancouver Canucks broadcaster Jim Robson has died, colleagues have confirmed.

Robson joined CKWX, now 1130 NewsRadio, in 1956, covering the BC Lions, the WHL Vancouver Canucks, and the Vancouver Mounties baseball team.

He was most famously the voice of the NHL Vancouver Canucks on CKNW from 1970 to 1999.

In a post to social media Tuesday, the team’s current play-by-play broadcaster on Sportsnet 650, Brendan Batchelor, said “the word legend isn’t enough” to describe Robson.

Devastated to hear of the passing of Jim Robson. He is the standard to which all BC based play-by-play broadcasters have aspired to, and will never reach.

Some sad news to pass along in the hockey world. The great, longtime Canucks broadcaster and Hockey Night in Canada alumni Jim Robson has passed away. He was 91.

Robson was 91.
