The grieving mother of Ticaria Lampert, one of eight victims killed in the Tumbler Ridge mass shooting Tuesday, lovingly remembered her daughter in an appearance before members of the media Thursday.
Sarah Lampert says Ticaria was “whoever and whatever someone needed,” recalling her charitable spirit.
“She was everything, especially to me,” said Lampert.
The 12-year-old, whose identity was made public Thursday by the BC RCMP, was described as a vivacious, fearless girl who brought light to her family and those around her.
“We called her Tiki, my Tica-roo. She’s always been a blazing light in the darkness, and if you didn’t manage to see her, you would definitely hear her,” said her mother through tears.

Ticaria leaves behind Lampert and seven siblings, who will now have to navigate life without her.
“I’m a single mom, and every single one of us mattered in my family. Our truth is that we have learned to become a functioning cell together. Every one of us mattered. And Tiki’s abstinence in our family is not going to go unnoticed,” said Lampert.
“[She was] an actual rose grown from the ashes, a family hero. Even just in her existence, she saved me and her sisters. She just wanted to bring sunshine to everyone and everything she ever touched.”
Ticaria was just two months short of her 13th birthday. She is remembered among the six children and two adult victims killed in the horrific attack.
