After opening unseasonably early this month, the North Shore’s Grouse Grind has closed again.
As of Thursday, the Metro Vancouver Regional District says the notoriously challenging trail is shut, citing “hazardous winter conditions.”

The trail had reopened on Feb. 5, following record-breaking warm temperatures across B.C. This week, temperatures dropped, and a special weather statement forecasted snowfall in higher elevations.

Both snow and upcoming trail maintenance work, the MVRD says, have “resulted in conditions that are not safe for public access.”
In a statement to 1130 NewsRadio, a representative says the Grouse Grind is “closed now until late March” with plans to re-evaluate the conditions once the trail maintenance is complete.
The nearby BCMC Route remains open, but the district says hikers can expect snow and icy conditions.
