Columbia Street closed after driver strikes pedestrian in Vancouver

Police are investigating after the driver of a vehicle struck and injured a pedestrian in downtown Vancouver Wednesday.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says officers responded to reports of the collision on Columbia Street near East Hastings Street around 11:20 a.m.

Multiple emergency crews are responding and police have shut down traffic in the area.

Images show debris scattered across the road and a TransLink bus stopped at the scene.

The BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) says that two ambulances responded to the scene and transported one patient in serious but stable condition to the hospital.
