Delta will host the inaugural Barns to Beaches Festival this spring featuring a full day of live music headlined by the band 54-40. The festival takes its name from the new Barns to Beaches bike route, which is scheduled to open on June 1.

The 16-km route features 29 branded wayfinding signs connecting local breweries, farm stands, cafés and beaches from Delta to Tsawwassen. A community bike ride is also scheduled to coincide with the festival, which takes place at the end of the bike trail.

“This festival is about bringing people together and celebrating what makes Delta such a fun city to call home,” said Delta Mayor George Harvie. “We’re fortunate to have beautiful outdoor spaces and a community that enjoys getting outside, connecting with one another and taking part in local events..”

There are three options for the all-ages Barns to Beaches ride.

The Full Course is a 32-km round-trip from Tsawwassen to Ladner and back. The Leisure Ride is an 8-km ride to the Boundary Bay Dike and back. There will be 10 celebration stations along the way featuring complimentary snacks, various themed activities and more. A one-km Kids Ride that loops within the festival grounds runs throughout the day.

The main festival site will also include an Adventure Expo, open 10 a.m.- 6 p.m., and a fully licensed festival site showcasing local craft beers and other beverages. Food trucks will also be serving a variety of tasty treats.
