Average gas price in Metro Vancouver at six-month high: analysts

As of Monday morning, multiple stations around Vancouver are advertising a litre of regular for $1.90.

According to data from 427 stations, the average price was $1.83 per litre on Sunday.

U.S.-Israel attacks on Iran have disrupted tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz at the southern end of the Persian Gulf, through which 20 per cent of the world’s oil supply passes.

The head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.com, Patrick De Haan, says the “effective closure” of the passage has pushed the price of crude oil above $100 per barrel.

“In just a week, Canadian motorists have seen gasoline prices surge at one of the fastest rates in years,” said De Haan.

He says fuel markets are “rapidly recalibrating” to the risk of prolonged disruption after more attacks over the weekend.

“As a result, gasoline prices across much of Canada could climb another 10-25 cents per litre this week, with diesel rising 15-30 cents per litre as higher crude costs begin working their way through the supply chain. While the situation remains highly fluid, Canadian motorists are already beginning to feel the effects as energy markets adjust to this sudden escalation.”

GasBuddy data shows the price of gas hasn’t reached over $1.85 per litre in Metro Vancouver since a brief spike in mid-September 2025.
