It also shows at least one firetruck on the scene.
1130 NewsRadio was able to talk to an employee at Chartwell Carrington House, who said that the building is being evacuated.
The City of Mission said in a written statement that a Reception Centre has been established at the Mission Leisure Centre.
“Staff from the retirement residence are still in the process of trying to confirm whether everyone was safely evacuated,” Mission RCMP said in a statement.
“Family members coming to meet loved ones should attend the Leisure Centre, not the retirement residence,” police added.
City staff and police are asking the public to avoid the area as 7th Avenue is closed in both directions between Cedar Street and Briskham Street while crews are on scene.
Callers and photos on social media show what appear to be flames coming from the roof of the building.
