Mounties in Kamloops are investigating an early morning shooting which turned into a homicide in the city’s downtown core.
An adult man was found suffering from a gunshot wound near Seymour Street around 4:30 a.m.

Police say crews provided emergency medical care and transported him to the hospital.
Despite life-saving measures, he later died of his injuries. No arrests have been made.

The Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit has launched an investigation, and officers believe this was a targeted incident.
Investigators will remain in the area, searching for additional witnesses and gathering additional evidence.
In accordance with the family, police have identified the victim as Emmanuel “Manny” Brooks.

“We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who has information that could assist investigators, to please contact police,” said Staff Sgt. Kevin McIntyre.
“We are also interested in hearing from anyone with video surveillance or dash-cam footage from the surrounding area during the early-morning hours.”
