When officers arrived, they found a 49-year-old man in medical distress.

“Despite life-saving efforts by officers and attending emergency health services, the [victim] did not survive,” said the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), which has taken over investigating.

A statement Tuesday morning added that one person was arrested at the scene.

Sgt. Freda Fong confirmed to 1130 NewsRadio that the suspect is also a man. He remains in custody.

While the investigation is in its early stages, IHIT says it believes the incident was isolated, between people who knew each other, and says there is no further risk to the public.

“Officers are continuing to gather evidence in the area, and the scene will be cordoned off for some time as the investigation continues.”

Anyone with more information about the incident is asked to call investigators at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
