Man arrested after weapons call in Abbotsford

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says a man has been arrested Thursday after an earlier weapons call in the Walnut Avenue area.

Just after 5 p.m., police urged residents in the area — including those living between Ash Street and Pratt Crescent, as well as those on Woodbine and Woodland streets — to shelter in place. The shelter-in-place advisory has now been lifted.

“There are no ongoing public safety concerns in the Walnut Avenue area,” police said around 6:30 p.m.

“A heavy police presence remains on scene as officers collapse operations.”

Police didn’t provide many details but say the incident is contained to a single home with no reported injuries.

When AbbyPD first alerted residents, it was calling this an active and evolving incident.
