Police say a 62-year-old man was allegedly taken from his home and forced into a vehicle.

Thirty minutes later, the suspect vehicle was spotted near Slocan Street and East Broadway.

A chase ensued, and police say officers boxed the suspects in near 14th Avenue and Woodland Drive.

“Both suspects fled the vehicle in different directions,” Const. Megan Lui told 1130 NewsRadio.

“With assistance from the canine, gang crime, and other patrol units, they were able to get both of the suspects into custody.”

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries. Lui says she believes he has been released.

The relationship between the individuals isn’t clear.

“At this time, it is not believed that the suspects and victim knew each other,” she said, adding it doesn’t appear the incident was gang-related.

The BC Prosecution Service has charged two men, 24 and 26, with one count each of kidnapping.

Lui says this crime is concerning.

“With a kidnapping and a home invasion, it is very alarming to have it in a residential neighbourhood,” she said.

Police say they remain in custody. Records show they are both due in court on Monday.
