Vancouver police identify victim in Downtown Eastside homicide

Police say 21-year-old Isaiah Elijah Hector Cecil-Johnny, who also went by the street name, Littlebird, was found dead March 20.

Vancouver police have confirmed that a suspicious death on March 20 is now being investigated as a homicide.

Investigators also identified the victim as 21-year-old Isaiah Elijah Hector Cecil-Johnny, who also went by the street name Littlebird.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m., B.C. Emergency Health Services called the VPD to attend the south lane in the 100-block of East Hastings Street because of the suspicious nature of the injuries found on Cecil-Johnny, according to police.

Despite life-saving efforts, the man died. Police didn’t say how the man was killed but said homicide detectives are now investigating.

Anyone who may have interacted with Cecil-Johnny on the evening of March 19, or in the early morning hours of March 20, is asked to call the VPD Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.
