An RCMP officer was taken to hospital with serious injuries during a motorcycle training exercise in Surrey, Mounties tell 1130 NewsRadio.
Officers were conducting a traffic-related exercise at 152nd Street and 100th Avenue when a collision occurred shortly after 10 a.m., police say.
“While travelling southbound on 152nd Street on fully-marked RCMP police motorcycles, a BC Highway Patrol officer was rear-ended by another BC Highway Patrol officer,” RCMP media relations said in a news release.
“One officer was transported to hospital with serious injuries and remains in hospital. The other officer was taken to hospital as well, then was released and returned to the training course.”

The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) says three ambulances were sent to the scene before 10:30 a.m.
“Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to one patient and transported this patient to hospital in stable condition,” the PHSA said.
Callers to 1130 NewsRadio said 152nd was blocked off between Guildford Mall and 94th Avenue.
