Avoid the area on Burrard Street between Pender Street and Hastings Street in downtown Vancouver.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says it is blocking the streets in both directions to investigate a suspicious package located in the vicinity.

“Out of abundance of caution, police have cordoned off the area while they deal with it,” Const. Darren Wong told CityNews.

Delays have been reported in both directions on Pender Street.

Officers are on scene and navigating traffic away from the area.

As of 2:30 p.m., the VPD says it has cleared the area.

“The suspicious package was deemed not suspicious after investigation. Nothing criminal at this time,” Wong added.
