The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is seeking witnesses to the arrest of a man in Langley on Oct. 1, 2025.

At approximately 4 a.m., Langley RCMP responded to a call regarding a man running through hallways and disturbing people in a residential building at 198th Street and 54th Avenue.

Officers were able to find the man and detain him. Soon after being detained, he went into medical distress.

Both firefighters and BC Emergency Health Services were on scene to provide aid, and the man was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The man was alive when he arrived at the hospital but later died that night.

The IIO was notified after the incident and began an investigation.

Investigators have finished their review of the autopsy and toxicology reports and determined that there is a connection between the man’s death and officer action or inaction.
