1 dead after crash that closed Golden Ears Way: RCMP

Police in Pitt Meadows are investigating after a motorcyclist died in a crash with the driver of an SUV Sunday afternoon.

The BC RCMP says the crash happened near the Lougheed Highway off-ramp from Golden Ears Way around 5:20 p.m.

Images from the scene show emergency crews surrounding a badly damaged SUV on the curb, with scattered debris, and at least one other damaged vehicle.

Mounties confirmed the crash “resulted in the death of a male motorcycle rider.”

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) began investigating, and a section of Golden Ears Way was closed to northbound traffic for several hours Sunday.

The highway has since reopened.

As police work to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash, witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam video are asked to call the Pitt Meadows RCMP at 778-670-9010 and quote file number 26-10175.
