Four people have been displaced after a fire at a home in Chilliwack early Saturday morning, according to the fire department.
Fifteen firefighters were sent to the home, located on Mayfair Avenue near Hazel Street, just before 5 a.m.
When they arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming through the attic of the home.
“Firefighters established a water supply and quickly contained the fire, successfully preventing extension beyond the attic space,” Asst. Fire Chief Wade Meeres said.
“Crews conducted an offensive interior fire attack and confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated the residence.”
Emergency crews provided assistance to the four displaced residents and their pets.
“The Chilliwack Fire Department would like to remind all residents to ensure working smoke alarms are installed on every level of the home and in each sleeping area,” Meeres said.
