Timothy Vansnick was charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 35-year-old man in a fight outside John B Pub at 1000-Austin Ave. on Jan. 31, 2025.
Police arrived at the scene just before 9:45 p.m. and found the victim suffering from a life-threatening injury. The victim, who hasn’t been publicly identified, died at the scene.
On Tuesday, Vansnick, 33, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter, said the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
“The entering of a guilty plea is a significant step in the court process,” said IHIT spokeswoman Sgt. Freda Fong in a news release. “As we await sentencing, our thoughts are with the victim’s family, friends and those who were impacted by this tragic death.”
Vansnick is expected to be sentenced in Port Coquitlam court on Dec. 3 and 4.
Thieves use stolen front-end loader in Peachland ATM theft
Mounties in the Okanagan are investigating after thieves used heavy equipment to break into a credit union in Peachland last fall.
RCMP said suspects used a stolen front-end loader to smash into a VantageOne credit union branch in the early morning hours of Oct. 8, 2025.
The thieves made off with the exterior ATM, but failed to extract any cash from it. The ATM was later recovered by police, with no money missing.
However, the “brazen and deliberate” theft resulted in about $150,000 in damage to the building, RCMP said.
On Thursday, police issued a plea for anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area to contact West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
