The B.C. government is trying to reduce the time people spend in traffic in Langley by replacing the CPKC rail overpass in the Fraser Valley.
The province has contracted with B.C. based Norland Kingston General Partnership to replace the existing rail-overpass between 216th Street and 264th Street as part of the Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program.

The new overpass will have an increased height clearance for commercial trucks, with a clearance of up to 5.2 metres, instead of the current 4.4 metres.
It will also allow for additional lanes on Highway 1, including new HOV lanes in both directions.
The location has been the site of previous overpass strikes and the new height will help improve safety and reduce damage to the structure.
Construction on the overpass replacement is expected to begin in summer 2026.
