In an update on Tuesday, Cst. Bradley Holditch says that the safety regulator is now on scene, trying to determine what led to the incident.

“We are working closely with Technical Safety BC and based on what is known at this stage, there doesn’t appear to be criminality,” Holditch said.

“All avenues are being investigated. The investigation remains ongoing.”

He says that the focus is on understanding what exactly happened by collecting evidence, obtaining statements, and watching video surveillance.

Holditch could not confirm if any of the victims were electrocuted. “I can’t comment on that,” he said.

Cultus Lake Waterpark’s chief administrative officer told reporters there was an “electrical incident” that impacted children who made contact with a railing on one of its attractions.

The park remains closed. Police could not confirm when the park would reopen.

In front of reporters, Cst. Holditch notes that all children who were transported to the hospital are “doing well.”

He adds that the children’s ages are between 12 and 13.

Cultus Lake Waterpark says in a written statement that it is fully cooperating with Technical Safety BC.

“Our immediate closure will continue to be extended and ongoing as needed to adequately complete all thorough reviews.”

It adds that the incident occurred at the bottom of the Zero to 60 waterslide.
