Wildfire ‘out of control’ near Lytton Friday evening – evacuation alert issued

A wildfire has broken out in Saw Creek, near Lytton, prompting highway closures by the RCMP and as of 7:10 p.m., an evacuation alert.

The wildfire, as of Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., was sized at 100 hectares and considered out of control.

“There is no need evacuate at this time but be prepared to do so on short notice if an evacuation order is issued. If an evacuation order is issued, evacuees can report to the Lytton First Nation Battlefield Community Hall for shelter,” read a notice on the Village of Lytton website.



BC Wildfire Service has listed the cause as human.
