“[I’m] very tired, haven’t had any sleep for a few days.”
He says he was walking near Comox and Denman late Monday night when he heard shouting.
“Get the F off the sidewalk moron. So, I turned around, guess they were talking to me?” explained Blake Elliott.

He recalls seeing two teenagers riding a single Lime scooter whizz past him on the sidewalk.
“They pushed me down and then I hit the tree and I laid there for quite a while, bleeding.”
The incident left him with a busted eye that he still struggles to see out of, multiple scratches and bruising on his body and a bloody shirt as a painful reminder.
He says he wishes to see more enforcement for e-scooter violations.
“They don’t stop at the corner here, and at nighttime, some times they’re 6, 8, of them at a time. Police can’t be everywhere, but there’s been absolutely no enforcement.”



The Vancouver Police Department issued seven violation tickets in 2025 for the use of e-scooters on sidewalks.
In a statement to CityNews, Lime reminds users that they must be 18 years old to ride a Lime scooter in Vancouver and that it continues to monitor rider behaviour to ensure compliance.
As for Elliott, as he recovers from his injuries, he would like to thank the kind passerby who drove him to the hospital.
“If he ever calls me, I was going to thank him again, because there are some Good Samaritans out there.”
