UPDATE: Evacuation order issued for out-of-control wildfire near Boston Bar
Fire officials said Saturday the Brunswick Creek wildfire had grown to .44 square kilometres, up from .14 sq. km. on Friday.

An evacuation order has been issued for properties north of North Bend on Chaumox Road, as an out-of-control wildfire continues to grow nearby.

The evacuation order, issued Saturday evening, comes one day after the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) issued an evacuation alert for properties near the wildfire burning in the area of Boston Bar.

FVRD says the evacuation order comes at the recommendation of the B.C. Wildfire Service, and the district has also declared a state of emergency. The Boothroyd Indian Band has also issued an evacuation order in its area.
People in the area covered by the evacuation order “must leave the area” now, and members of the B.C. Wildfire Service, the RCMP and the FVRD Fire Service will be coordinating the “tactical evacuation.”
The B.C. Wildfire Service says the Brunswick Creek blaze, believed to be human caused, is burning along Chaumox Road near Brunswick Creek. As of Sunday, the fire had grown to about one square kilometre, about seven times the size estimate as of Friday.
Four properties on Chaumox Road north of North Bend are on evacuation alert. Fire officials say strong wind gusts are expected Saturday, which could fan the flames and hamper firefighting efforts.
B.C. Wildfire Service crews are assisting the Boston Bar Fire Department in response to the wildfire. Air support has been limited due to weather and terrain.
Highway 1 is not expected to be affected by the fire.
Traffic along Chaumox Road is restricted to local residents only, and authorities are asking people to stay away from the area.
The wildfire will continue to produce smoke in the area. Residents with health sensitivities should take steps to reduce their exposure to smoke, the regional district advised.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, the City of Kamloops posted a notice to residents on its social media channels that smoke from the wildfire was “drifting into the area.”

As of Sunday morning there were 25 active wildfires in the province, but only six were considered out of control.
Fire officials say, despite a cooler weather pattern moving throughout the province, temperatures are expected to increase in the days ahead and drought remains a concern.
Warmer weather would also raise the risk of new fires and increased fire behaviour in some areas of the province, including the Chilcotin and Southern Interior.
