West Broadway has already seen mass disruption to transit and businesses along the two-block stretch. Starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, that stretch of Broadway will be completely closed.
Vehicles will be diverted along West 8th Avenue, while pedestrians will still be able to access businesses, services and residences.
During the closure, crews will remove 133 road panels that make up the traffic deck, backfill above the station, install permanent utilities and rebuild the roadway to a final configuration of four lanes of traffic.
Work will go from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday, with some overnight work also expected.
The closure is expected to be in place until the end of this year.
Northwest Marine Drive at Spanish Banks Creek will also close on Monday to allow for the replacement of an aging wooden culvert, which is blocked and preventing access for spawning salmon.
The 15-metre culvert links the 50-metre rehabilitated stretch of creek from Burrard Inlet to the one-kilometre creek that runs through a ravine in Pacific Spirit Park. The upstream culvert exit is completely open, while the upstream entrance is just a few inches deep.
The Spanish Banks Creek salmon habitat was rebuilt in 1999 and is one of the few natural salmon-supporting creeks left in Vancouver.
The work involved removing a waterfront parking lot and the section of culvert that ran below it, rebuilding the stream banks and adding tens of thousands of coho and chum fry upstream.

However, the old culvert has become blocked over time. In November 2022, several salmon died as they were unable to get upstream.
Northwest Marine Drive at Spanish Banks Creek will be closed from July 27 until Sept. 30.
Traffic will be detoured along West 4th Avenue/Chancellor Boulevard. Work will be continuing from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., with the closure in place throughout the duration of the project, including during non-working hours.
