Residents in additional areas of the Fraser Valley have been ordered to leave immediately as the Brunswick Complex wildfires continue to threaten communities.
The Fraser Valley Regional District upgraded an evacuation alert to an evacuation order at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The evacuation order now covers the area from Alexandra Lodge to Alexandra Bridge, as well as the area between Alexandra Bridge and Sawmill Creek.
Officials say all residents within the evacuation zone must leave their homes and properties immediately.
Emergency personnel are directing evacuees to travel south on Highway 1 and follow instructions from responders on scene.
Anyone who requires in-person assistance can go to the Seabird Island Indian Band support location at 2895 Chowat Road in Agassiz.
Authorities noted that evacuees are not required to register at or attend a reception centre.
The evacuation order comes as crews continue to battle the Brunswick Complex wildfires and monitor changing conditions in the region. Residents are urged to stay informed through official emergency channels and follow all evacuation instructions.
