Police say the rider ignored a traffic stop and fled onto incoming traffic. The IIO is investigating.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash after a failed police stop on Friday.

At around 3:30 a.m., a Surrey police officer tried to stop a speeding motorcycle near the Trans-Canada Highway and the 104 Avenue off-ramp.

The motorcyclist fled into oncoming traffic and crashed with another vehicle, Surrey Police Service said in a news release.
He was taken to hospital with serious non-life-threatening injuries.
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. is investigating and asks witnesses or those with dashcam footage of the incident to contact them.
The civilian watchdog agency investigates police-related cases that result in serious harm or death regardless of whether there is an allegation of wrongdoing.
