VPD investigating after senior reportedly assaulted in Kitsilano

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says it is investigating after a 73-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a stranger late last month.

Officers say they were called to the Kitsilano neighbourhood July 31 after reports of the assault.

“Investigators believe the suspect was yelling at passersby when the victim approached him and asked him to stop yelling and move along,” the VPD said.

“The two men became involved in a verbal altercation, during which the suspect allegedly pushed the victim to the ground.”

The senior suffered head injuries as a result of the assault, police say.

The suspect is described as having a medium build and was wearing grey shorts and white shoes at the time of the attack. He was not wearing a shirt.

Police have released an image of the suspect and are asking anyone who may recognize him to call investigators at 604-717-3321.
