The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says it is investigating after a woman was assaulted and robbed last week in the Marpole neighbourhood.

At around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 27, a woman was walking on Granville Street near S.W. Marine Drive when she was approached by a stranger, the VPD says.

“The man allegedly punched the woman in the face and stole her purse,” Const. Darren Wong said in a news release.

“He fled before police arrived, and a neighbourhood search was unsuccessful. Officers located the victim’s phone nearby.”

Wong says BC Emergency Health Services paramedics treated her at the scene for injuries to her nose.
