Shots fired at vehicle in Abbotsford; police investigating possible link to SUV fire

Abbotsford police are investigating after shots were fired at a vehicle late Saturday night in what investigators believe was a targeted incident.

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says reports of a shooting on McCallum Road between Switzer Avenue and Braun Avenue came in shortly after 11 p.m.

Officers attended the scene and confirmed that a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported.

Soon after the shooting, AbbyPD responded to a separate report of a vehicle fire on Sunnyside Place near Sunnyside Crescent. When officers arrived, they found an SUV fully engulfed in flames.

Police have not yet confirmed whether the burnt SUV is connected to the shooting, but investigators are examining a possible link between the two incidents.

According to police, a dark-coloured SUV was involved in the shooting.

The AbbyPD Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to determine the motive behind the shooting.

Investigators say they believe the incident was targeted and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
