The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says an investigation into a break-and-enter at a business has led to the recovery of around $20,000 in suspected stolen goods.

Police say they were initially called to the business, located on Forge Place near the Clearbrook Road interchange, on Aug. 27 around 4 a.m.

The suspects had left in a vehicle before police got there, AbbyPD says. When officers arrived, they found furniture and other merchandise had been stolen.

They identified the suspect vehicle and two suspects, leading to an investigation that ultimately resulted in a search warrant, police say in a news release.

The search warrant was executed at a home on Marshall Road near Cherry Street on Sept. 11, the release says. In addition to recovering the stolen property, police say they seized the suspect vehicle.

“During the search, officers located and seized approximately $20,000 worth of suspected stolen tools,” AbbyPD said.

The suspects — Mario Jovic, 44, and Richard White, 49 — are both known to police. They have each been charged with break-and-enter and remain in custody.

As well, police remind business owners and residents that they can help enhance safety in their communities by participating in Project Clearview, a voluntary community camera registry program.

“The program helps investigators ID potential video evidence more efficiently and supports timely police response during criminal investigations,” AbbyPD said.
