A collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck in New Westminster Wednesday afternoon sent one person to hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened at the intersection of 8th Street and 8th Avenue around 2 p.m., according to the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD).

BC Emergency Health Services said one person was transported to hospital. Police confirmed the injured person was the motorcycle rider and described their condition as serious but stable.

NWPD said the investigation remains in its early stages and the area was closed to traffic Wednesday afternoon as officers gathered evidence.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash camera footage from the area around the time of the crash to contact police.
